This week I hit the spin cycle: low energy, low motivation, nonstop overthinking.

So I did what Greg McKeown calls “screaming onto a page.”

I grabbed a blank white sheet, set a 10-minute timer, and dumped everything in my head. The whole firework.

Within minutes, I felt lighter. Patterns showed up. And eventually, I knew my next step.

Why it works:

Your brain is a problem-solver, not a storage unit.
When you empty the noise onto paper, you create space to think.
Don't confuse this with journaling or planning.

It’s thinking on paper.

It doesn’t need to be pretty or saved — just you, a pencil, and a white page.

The best part? You naturally move from confusion to clarity, and eventually, to creation.

Sometimes you just need the space.

REFLECT

Three steps to download your mind (in 10 minutes):

Step 1: Permission

Grab a loose sheet (you can throw it away, so no pressure). Write messy. It's okay.

Step 2: What / So What / Now What

  • What?
    Dump everything: tasks, worries, half-decisions, names, dates, feelings. Do it fast. No perfection.

  • So what?
    Circle patterns. What's the real problem? I personally do this with a highlighter. Write one honest sentence. Capture your first thought.

  • Now what?
    Pick one tiny move that makes the problem smaller.

Step 3: Close the loop

Schedule your first 10 minutes today.
Keep the sheet or throw it out.
Et voilà: Your mind isn't storage anymore.

Pro tips:

  • Stuck writing? Record a voice memo, then ask your AI: "Help me organize my thoughts into What / So What / Now What."

  • Say it out loud: "We're doing X, because Y, first step Z." If you can't say it simply, it's not clear yet.

  • Need more than 10 minutes? Take it. Space to think should not be a luxury.

GROW

I personally use a blank sheet whenever I need to think deeply: If I have to create a strategy from scratch, come up with a concept, analyse a situation, or if I am tired of feeling overloaded.

I always start by dumping my thoughts.
